BBCP Program Number 05 - BCP Preparedness
Measuring through Testing |
Description: |
Many organizations do not see the need to complete a disaster

have tested the computer hot site.
This special test will point out issues that most people have never considered and will need to complete prior
to any disaster loss.
Our 4 hour, test before you plan, can be a real eye opener. |

BBCP Program Number 9 - Full Scale BCP Management
Package |
Description: |
A high percentage of organizations have talked about developing
a disaster recovery plan and some have started and restarted the process several times. Most the time they lack
the needed in-house expertise, time and experience and this causes these efforts to fail. Development of a plan,
the ability to self audit, skills to complete a reasonable test and gain resources needed to keep the plan viable
are out of reach for many companies. |
Audience: |
Companies or organizations needing a high quality disaster
recovery program. |
Format: |
Classroom training presentations using power point presentations,
one on interviews with staff and managers as needed, periodic meetings and reports on how the process is developing.
A final presentation to your executive group on the program with their roles and responsibilities defined. |
Deliverables: |
We will manage all of the plan components with you until you
are ready to take over the management yourself.
Our full scale business package includes the entire BCP package described above.
We will annually test the program, schedule and monitor the updating of the plans.
We will also respond to your disaster events, manage the EOC, assist with activating resources and help you through
the recovery process if needed. |

BBCP Program Number 10 - Testing Your BCP |
Description: |
Everyone that teaches or consults on BCP development will
agree that a plan is not really complete until it is tested. Testing or excising the plan has many benefits:
- It teaches the participants their roles and responsibilities
during a disaster event.
- Walking through the actions, procedures and BCP plans makes
people focus on the tasks, sets a level of urgency to the event and people are able to put some physical structure
to the BCP.
- A test reinforces the need for the program and the participants
will gain confidence that the planning and procedures really do work.
- The exercise will remind people that they have an important
role in the recovery of the operations in the event of a disaster.
- People will be working together, taking action on the decisions
that they previously made. Then implementing those actions based on resources that they helped to develop.
- Writing the plan and picturing it through the minds eye
is part of the development process. A simulation test will provide a stronger understanding of how the response
teams work together, puts on a sense of time that is needed for recovery and the energy needed to perform the many
recovery tasks.
|
Audience: |
Companies or organizations needing a high quality disaster
recovery testing program. |
Format: |
BCP Testing needs to be progressive. Each test protocol
should bring in more resources, challenges to the response team and normally is needs to be more complex until
it becomes a full scale simulation of a disaster. Variation for the tests will come with the use of various scenarios
and test conditions. We also like to link together the emergency response (evacuations), EOC operations, the IT
recovery plan and the business BCP.
We offer three testing protocol levels:
- Tabletop Testing
- Business Functional Testing
- Full Scale Interdependency Testing
|
Deliverables: |
The test will point out omissions and errors in the planning
process. Errors and omissions could include equipment needs, procedural issues and changes, additional documentation
requirements and additions or changes in the internal or external resources.
All these discoveries will lead to better planning, confidence in the program and enhance your ability to recover
from an actual loss.
A report to your management on the actions taken during the test.
Recommendations for BCP improvements. |
Cost: |
Please, contact Paul Bergee at paulbergee@charter.net
for current pricing. Travel cost is additional depending on distance. Travel and per diem expenses require reimbursement.
In addition we have a test development cost:
1. Tabletop Testing |
$2500 |
2. Business Functional Testing |
$5000 |
3. Full Scale Interdependency Testing |
$7500 |
|
BBCP Program Number 11 - Business Continuity
External/Dependency Audit |
Description: |
Joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions and critical supplier
dependencies
requires looking at all aspects of the BCP process. It is very important to know how prepared they are to handle
a disaster. Their disaster could become your disaster, because you cannot get the products or services that you
need or they have lost the information or a process that you depend on for your operations. |
Audience: |
The assumption being that you have a full scale BCP in place.
You are looking at purchasing, partnering or merging your operations with another organization. You want to be
sure your investment is protected by their having a BCP in place. Our program audits these partners or associates. |
Format: |
We will visit the location(s) that you want to have audited.
From a methodology we have developed we will interview all key BCP components. When the audit is complete we will
report the results back to your organization. |
Deliverables: |
Performing an audit will accomplish the following:
- Measures the level of their BCP current program
- Benchmarks their business recovery plan to your recovery
standards
- Identifies any loopholes and omissions in their BCP
- Confirms the need to require or request further planning
- You can make an informed decision on the recoverability
of their operations
- Documentation that you can take to your board of directors,
owners, auditors and others that need to see evidence of their program.
