"Risk Management - Ensuring a Safe and Security Future"
presented by Rich Woldt on March 4, 2004

Fredrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen, founded credit union movement by establishing the first "cooperative credit society" in 1869, specifically to create economic opportunity for the common man and stabilize the economic outlook for his community.

According to Raiffeisen, "Credit unions are the path to a more secure and productive future."

Little did he realize that his dream, born out of fears and frustration, would launch a global movement skilled at managing risks and focused on helping communities around the world. Because of his foresight and willingness to take risks, Fredrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen quickly became known as the movement's first "Credit Union Risk Manager." In fact, he started managing credit union risks twenty years earlier when he formed his first lending society in Germany in 1849.

Attend this Risk Management session and you'll carry on Raiffeisen's dream. This session, much like your credit union, is designed to pull it all together. You'll learn how to manage risks, create economic opportunities for your members while benefiting the surrounding local community. You'll learn to manage risks faced by Raiffeisen and risks you face today at work and at home. Time permitting, this session will discuss the following risk areas:

  • Burglary - How to get the most from physical, alarm and guard security
  • Robbery - How to create "defendable zones" and train staff
  • Executive Protection - How to stay safe at home, at work and on the road
  • Kidnapping - How to survive when you're the hostage!
  • Terrorism - How to identify their next targets, stop funding, discourage recruits, sort out biological warfare myths from reality, update emergency response protocols, prepare and handle bomb threats
  • Contingency Planning - Summary on how to write, benchmark, test and implement contingency plans, introducing the Bergee A-B-C & 1-2-3 plan of action.
  • Trauma management - Recreating a "Sense of being in control"
  • Embezzlement, Forgery, and Fraud - How do they impact Homeland Security?"
